Meeting date October 2, 2012

Meeting was called to order by President Rick McGuiggan.  Secretary’s report was read and approved.  Treasurer’s report was read and approved. 

Treasurer also reported what we made at the fair.  We made $3276.27 at the food stands and $2737.13 at the truck pull for a total of $6013.40

Motion was made and carried to add $2000.00 into our rainy day fund. 

Council Report:

Greg Swanson reminded members of the Polk County Council website – polkcountyatv.com.  The council held their work day on September 23.  There is a large washout on the Gandy Dancer trail that is impassable for snowmobiles north of Fredric.  The DNR was contacted and they feel that they need to replace the area with a bridge. They will not be able to complete it this fall so they are first going to fix the washout by putting in a culvert and then remove this in the spring to put in the bridge.  The cost for the fix is approx. $40,000 and the bridge will be approx. $90,000.  Also the bridge that they will install will have a maximum weight limit of 14,000 pounds, the groomer weighs 20,000 pounds so the DNR would require that the county council pay the difference for the heavier weight bridge. The Polk County Council also received a quotation to fix the area at a cost of approx. $10,000, the council does not agree with the DNR’s plans for this area, if you also disagree with the DNR’s plan please contact our congressmen Severson or Harsdorf.  County Council elections will be coming up next month. The council also wanted to remind clubs that brushing needs to be completed and to go high to make sure the groomers have plenty of room.  The council is working on a new data base that each club will have access to.  It will track landowners for us and keep it updated when land sales happen making it easier for us to get easements. 

Doug Kromrey reminded members of the fall workshop. If interested contact Doug for information it will be October 26th – 28th 2012 at Stevens Point. The club will provide $100.00 per family to cover costs and the Polk County Council will reimburse for your hotel costs.  Also if anyone wants to plan to attend the International Snowmobile Convention it will be held June 6th – 8th 2013 in Green Bay.  Andrew Kromrey our youth rep. was not able to attend the meeting as he was at a youth club meeting. 

Trail Bosses:

Gordy Jones has scheduled trail opening day for November 10th.  Doug & Teri Kromrey will have the post cards for the landowners printed at The Copy Shop and Roxy Couch will get them mailed out.  Gordy also reported that Dave Wurst may want us to change the trail on his land so we may have to clear woods.  Rick reported that there was some wash out on the right way pit on the Dresser trail that needs to be repaired. Trail signs need to be picked up from Lois G’s house.  

Old business:

The snowmobile safety course is scheduled for October 15th, 16th, and 18th at the OsceolaHigh School.  We will put an add in the Osceola Sun, complete info. will be posted in the community ed. Section.

Opened discussions about the Fair and Truck pull.  No specific comments or concerns to note.

Reminder that your club dues are now due. 

New Business:

Sno-Goer post cards noting the club meetings and events are complete.  Thank you Julie & Roxy.  They were passed around for members to pass out to promote new membership.

Elections were held.  Results are as follows:

Nominations were made for Bruce Johnson and Dick Couch for Board of Directors.  No other members were interested.  Vote was made and carried they are on the board for a two year term.

Nomination was made for Eric Hallen for Vice President.  No other members were interested. Vote was made and carried that Eric is our new VP for a two year term.

Nominations were made for Nate Gustafson and Sherry Hoiby for Treasurer.  No other members were interested.  Vote was taken and Sherry Hoiby is our new Treasurer.

Next meeting November 6, 2012 at PY’s at 7:30.  There will be a budget meeting prior to the meeting at 6:30.  President, treasurer, Board of Directors and Secretary are required to attend.
