Our annual club outing took place on January 19-22. For the second straight year, we stayed at the Grand Pines Motel on Lower Round Lake just east of Hayward, WI. We had a record turn out of 43 attendees. We took advantage of the large ‘clubroom’ that is attached to the motel. As you can see from the pictures below, it’s safe to say that everyone that attended enjoyed the trip. The club sponsored dinner on Friday night which was catered in from Tamarack BBQ & Winery. Hammerschlagen, cribbage, ping-pong and foosball were all favorites with a record hammerschlagen pot decided by a 2-person playoff.
Due to the rain early in the week, the groomers were not running until Thursday which caused rough trails early in the trip. But in usual Hayward fashion, the trails improved to excellent by the end of the weekend. The snow was fabulous, weather terrific, participation stellar and we had record participation. The group agreed that the accommodations work so well for our group that we have already reserved the Grand Pines Motel for the 2024 Safari.
