Meeting was held on December 3, 2013
Meeting was called to order by President Eric Hallen. Secretary’s report was read and approved. Treasurer’s report was read and approved, still need the bill from Raska for the rental of the tents from the fair.
Groomer Driver refresher training is scheduled for December 7th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the groomer shed in Balsam Lake. Council would like all groomer drivers to attend. Make sure we confirm that trails are open before removing trail closed signs. At the last council meeting there was a brusher demo. There were mixed responses at this time it is not sure if the county will purchase. We have received a permit to install a culvert on Rixmann’s land. The club will obtain a quote from Peterson Excavating. The county will pay for the work.
Youth Club Report:
The youth club will take care of the picnic tables. The youth club will be working at the groomer rodeo selling food. Youth club is selling AWSC raffle tickets for their fundraiser.
Most trails are signed. There are a few fields waiting for corn to be removed. We have received cost for land owner’s signs. We need 43 signs and prices ranged from $6.50 to $11.00 per sign. It was decided that we would order the $6.50 signs. They are 12” x 12” brown with reflective white lettering. Board repairs will be done to the Swanson/Niedermier bridge prior to trails opening. Make sure sure any hours you worked on trails are turned into the trail bosses. Also thanks to everyone for all of their hard work on the trails.
The Scholarship committee reported the guidelines established for the scholarship, which members approved. Motion was made and carried to do one $500.00 scholarship that will be due to be paid to the school in February. The committee/club will choose the recipient of the scholarship without knowing the names of the applicants.
Wandroos hunting party was a success, thanks to everyone who helped out.
Membership dues are due by January 1, 2014. If you haven’t paid yet please get your new member/renewal form filled out along with your dues to Sheri Hoiby. If you need a form please contact Suzanne Wente or Sheri Hoiby.
Wandroos made a donation to our club and the Amery club from the hunting party proceeds. They awarded each club $2000.00 each. Sheri will write up a formal thank you letter to be passed around and signed by members at the next meeting.
Sheri Hoiby will be sending out the Christmas gifts to all land owners.
Trail closed signs will be mounted in buckets to set up in the center of the trails at major crossings.
The AWSC has put together a $1000.00 scholarship in Sara Thorsland’s name.
The DNR has suspended the driving portion of the youth snowmobile safety program as this is not a legal requirement.
The Salvation Army is requesting help from us for bell ringers. If you would like to sign up go to the Salvation Army website.
Jason Raska reported that Raska’s are no longer in the business of party rental. He offered that we may want to purchase the large tent for the fair along with the Rod & Gun Club. Nate Gustafson will check with them to see if they are interested.
Motion was made and carried that we donate $250.00 to the Osceola food shelf before Christmas. President Eric will take care of this.

There was a discussion of laminating or other protectant for trail maps to be posted on the trail.
Suggestion was made that the Land Owners Dinner committee check with Wandroo’s about doing the chicken for the dinner. Committee will check.
The trip committee has booked Lakewood’s resort in Cable for the last week-end in January. Separate e-mail has been sent will all booking information.
Eric Hallen has booked the overnighter for Friday February 14th, ride will leave from Osceola Friday morning, stay overnight in Danbury and ride back on Saturday.
The club ride and shelter party is scheduled for Saturday February 22. Details to follow.
We need volunteers on our committees. We have the following committees:
Fair Committee, Landowner’s Dinner committee, Membership committee, Trip committee, nominating committee and social committee (plan club appreciation party and club ride/cook out at shelter). Contact any officer if you are interested in participating on these committee’s
