Meeting date February 5, 2013
Meeting was called to order by Vice-President Eric Hallen. Secretary’s report was read and approved. Treasurer’s report was read and approved.
Council Report:
Doug reported the council meeting was held January, 2013. They met the new Polk County Sheriff, Jeff Hahn (715-491-5931). Sheriff stated that people should call when there is trouble/issues on the trial. He stated that there had been several tickets issued for riding on trials when they are not open. The fine is $187.50. The Spring AWSC Convention will be head March 22 – 24th in LaCrosse, WI . Council will pick-up room costs for Board members that attend. The International Snowmobile Convention will be held June 6th – 8th 2013 in Green Bay.
Andrew Kromrey our youth rep. reported the youth club cancelled the scheduled ride for February 8th – 10th 2013 Lakewood, WI. The youth club meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 at the Balsam Lake groomers shed. If you know any interested youth please contact Andrew.
Trail Bosses:
Bruce Johnson brought up a reminder that the electric fence on the Jeff Fox property will need to be repaired at end of season. Bruce Johnson reported that membership brochures still had not been printed. Discussed waiting until fall since we are so far into the season and have updated ones printed. Approved
Old business:
Gordy Jones was not at the meeting. Dick Hoppe reported in January new signs for Niedermier bridge would be $80.00 each for a 30” x 30” vinyl over wood sign. Gordy will still need to confirm the size and get back to Dick.
The overnighter is scheduled for Friday February 15th. Ride up to the Danbury Hole in the Wall Casino and stay Friday night and ride back on Saturday. Eric has booked four rooms. The rate is $50.00 per room. If you would like to reserve a room the number is 800-238-8946. They are reserved under The Osceola Valley Snow Goers or Eric Hallen.
Shelter ride and party is scheduled for Saturday February 9th. Meet at 9:00 a.m. at shelter; group will go for a ride and meet back at shelter at 1:00 p.m. for grilling (smores, hot dogs, etc.)
New Business:
Eric Hallen talked about the $1500.00 donation from UW Wandroo’s from their Deer Hunter’s Party fundraiser and presented them with a formal thank you.
Doug Kromrey announced Amery poker run will be from February 15-23, 2013.
Doug talked about finding some type of old sled to help pick-up falling limbs and debri along the trail during the snow season.
Eric brought up possible future donations as a club. More discussion is needed related to Club’s budget. Possibly look at further participation and/or starting fund raising opportunities with community businesses which proceeds could be used for a scholarship program for the youth group, etc.
