*Meeting called to order on 10/1/24, at 7:01pm at Ken’s Keyboard by Spencer.
Secretary’s report:
- All past month meeting minutes are posted on our webpage. No additions or corrections.
- Let Kevin know if you’re not getting the meeting minutes email.
Treasurer’s report:
- Fair summary:
- Revenue was down from 2023, but so were expenses. Net profit up slightly.
- Some hamburgers and hot dogs left over to sell to club members, otherwise will use them for the club appreciation. See Frank if you’d like to buy some.
- Annual memberships renewals are due Memberships run July 1 thru June 30.
Old Business:
- Microphone purchase still in process. Not purchased yet.
- Meeting dates / post cards were printed and available for anyone that wants one. Website got corrected to match the post cards.
New Business:
- With funds available, the club members should consider how we want to plan to utilize the funds in the future. Possibly an improved shelter or club meeting building? Members to think of ideas and plan to discuss at the next meeting.
- Youth Snowmobile Safety Class will be held October 21, 22, 24 at the Osceola Intermediate School from 6:30-9:00 pm each night. Register at class first night. The club to pay for registrations.
Council Report:
- Bridge by Luck got hit again by a semi. County is going to try something different.
- The Council is considering the purchase of a property in Centuria along the Gandy Dancer trail that could be used for new sheds in the future.
- Council is planning to rewrite the bylaws and articles of incorporation.
- Planning to apply for 501c3 organization in the near future.
- Terry bought a small drag that can be pulled by a UTV for the small bridge on Gandy Dancer trail just north of St. Croix Falls. The groomer tractors can’t cross the bridge.
- ATV park planned to open on October 11, 2024. It is 60 acres with various difficulties.
- Trail reroute is planned from Centuria to Cushing.
KAOS Youth Club:
- Next KAOS meeting is next Tuesday, 10/8, at 7:00pm

Committee Reports: Reminder to all club members that committees were formed at the December 2023 club meeting to establish designated missions, leaders, contributors, and budgets for each. This is intended to allow progress to be made within each committee without requiring votes for actions so long as the committees operate within their allotted budget and mission. Anyone is welcome to join a committee(s) to get involved. More help is always appreciated! Questions can be directed to committee chairpersons.
- Fair Revenue Committee:
- Chair: Cyndi Sommerfeldt
- Mission: Maximize fair revenue by providing food and drink to the participants of the Osceola Fair at a reasonable value.
- Budget: $500
- Updates:
- Financials reviewed in Treasurer’s report. See above.
- Burgers left over. See Frank if you want to buy some.
- Sharing the refrigerator trailer worked well. Plan to do it again next year.
- Likely need to budget for a new gas grill for next year to replace one of the charcoal grills that is worn out.
- Other Revenue Committee:
- Chair: Kate & Chris Shermach
- Mission: Generate additional revenue to the club to close any budget gaps that may happen. Possible streams could include donations, raffles, poker run, clothing store, etc.
- Budget: $300
- Updates:
- Fun Run planning to start at the next meeting.
- Recommending to get business corporate memberships this year. This would provide AWSC membership and Ride Command point of interest. Some discussion on whether to charge more to businesses that already support the club quite a bit.
- A Bed & Breakfast contacted Frank wanting to get a point of interest created. They will plan to join the club to get that.
- Landowner Appreciation Committee:
- Chair: Donna Berg
- Mission: Show appreciation to our 110+ landowners for allowing our trails to cross their property.
- Budget: $5,000
- Updates:
- No updates.
- Scholarship / Donation Committee:
- Chair: Angel Olson
- Mission: Give back to the community by donating to worthy causes like college scholarships to our local graduating high school seniors and donating to the local food shelves, fire departments, rescue squads, etc.
- Budget: $1,500 (plan 2x $500 scholarships and $500 donation to food shelf)
- Updates:

- Social Committee:
- Chair: Spencer Feldt
- Mission: Show appreciation to our members for all the work they do to ensure we meet the needs of our landowners, trails, and community.
- Budget: $200
- Updates:
- Spencer made reservations Hayward for January 16- 18, 2025. Rooms and 2 cabins available for those that are interested. Meal planned for Friday evening like we’ve done in the past.
- Social Media Committee:
- Chair: Jacque Bonneprise
- Mission: Maintain our website, Facebook, and other platforms to ensure our by-laws, meeting minutes, activities, trail information, etc are readily available to our members and community.
- Budget: $25
- Updates:
- No updates.
- Trail Committee:
- Chair: Kevin McNutt
- Mission: Work closely with our landowners to ensure our trails are safe and fun for all our members and visitors. Document all trail work in SNARS. Collect and save land use agreements and send to the county rep.
- Budget: $800
- Updates:
- New landowner in Kevin’s area trail 12 has agreed to continue allowing the trail thru their property.
- Trail 30 reroute still in the works.
- Ride Command trail updates in process. See Kevin if you have any updates needed.
- Landowner signs. Let Kevin know if you need any.
- Plan to get postcards printed to notify landowners when we will be doing trail work. Targeting November 6-20. Kevin will print cards.
- Horse Creek bridge is done.
- Finance Committee:
- Chair: Frank Sommerfeldt
- Mission: Create and oversee a budget that will be sufficient to appreciate our landowners, maintain our trails, recognize our members, and contribute to our community.
- Budget: $300
- Updates:
- Board of Directors reviewed proposed budget prior to the meeting.
