*Meeting called to order on 9/3/24, at 7:05pm at the Osceola Fairgrounds by Jim.  Spencer was gone.

Secretary’s report: 

  • All past month meeting minutes are posted on our webpage.  No additions or corrections.
  • Let Kevin know if you’re not getting the meeting minutes email.

Treasurer’s report:

  • Fair start-up funds came out of our account last week.
  • Polaris employee donation and company match came in last month.
  • Annual memberships have started coming in.  Memberships run July 1 thru June 30.  Twelve membership renewals thus far.  Please get them in.  Memberships will be submitted to AWSC on September 15.

Old Business:

  • Microphone purchase still in process.  Not purchased yet.
  • Fair signup sheet still circulating.  Paper copy at the meeting.  Electronic copy still available.  Still need some spots filled.
  • Polaris donated banners.  They delivered today before the meeting.  Took some pictures.

New Business:

  • Post cards got printed.  Have them to hand out at the fair.
  • Osceola parade on Sunday.  Duante Wolter is coordinating.  Will have a truck, trailer, and snowmobiles.  Using Sno-Goers signs, KAOS banners, and Polk County Snowmobile Council banner.  Kids are welcome to ride on the float to throw out candy.  Contact Duane.

Council Report:

  • Groomer driver meeting next week.
  • Osceola’s “Snowmobile Friendly Community” status expires in 2024.  Eric is going to ask at the Council Meeting if others have interest in joining forces to submit an application for “Snowmobile Friendly County” to cover all of Polk County.

KAOS Youth Club:

  • Next KAOS meeting is next Tuesday, 9/10, at 7:00pm

Committee Reports:  Reminder to all club members that committees were formed at the December 2023 club meeting to establish designated missions, leaders, contributors, and budgets for each.  This is intended to allow progress to be made within each committee without requiring votes for actions so long as the committees operate within their allotted budget and mission.  Anyone is welcome to join a committee(s) to get involved.  More help is always appreciated!  Questions can be directed to committee chairpersons.

  • Fair Revenue Committee:
    • Chair:  Cyndi Sommerfeldt
    • Mission:  Maximize fair revenue by providing food and drink to the participants of the Osceola Fair at a reasonable value.
    • Budget:  $500
    • Updates:
      • Signup sheet still going around.  Still need some help.
      • Meat.  Dave Peterson will pick it up on Friday.  Nate has the amount.
      • Set-up helpers to arrive Friday at 1:00pm.  Will also clean grills then.
      • Wagon(s) would be useful to move stuff from the trailer to the food stand.  Raskas will provide 1 or 2 wagons to use.
  • Other Revenue Committee:
    • Chair:  Kate & Chris Shermach
    • Mission:  Generate additional revenue to the club to close any budget gaps that may happen.  Possible streams could include donations, raffles, poker run, clothing store, etc.
    • Budget:  $300
    • Updates:
      • Meat raffle is planned again at Pottsie’s.
      • Recommendation to do commercial AWSC memberships.  Thinking we charge businesses $100 for the membership.  This gets their business name in the AWSC magazine and we can put them as a POI (Point of Interest) on the Ride Command app map to help draw customers to their business.
  • Landowner Appreciation Committee:
    • Chair:  Donna Berg
    • Mission:  Show appreciation to our 110+ landowners for allowing our trails to cross their property.
    • Budget:  $5,000
    • Updates:
      • No updates.
  • Scholarship / Donation Committee:
    • Chair:  Angel Olson
    • Mission:  Give back to the community by donating to worthy causes like college scholarships to our local graduating high school seniors and donating to the local food shelves, fire departments, rescue squads, etc.
    • Budget:  $1,500  (plan 2x $500 scholarships and $500 donation to food shelf)
    • Updates:
      • No updates.
  • Social Committee:
    • Chair:  Spencer Feldt
    • Mission:  Show appreciation to our members for all the work they do to ensure we meet the needs of our landowners, trails, and community.
    • Budget:  $200
    • Updates:
      • Spencer made reservations at the same place in Hayward for the 3rd week in January, same as years past.
      • Interest in maybe trying Solon Springs next time.
  • Social Media Committee:
    • Chair:  Jacque Bonneprise
    • Mission:  Maintain our website, Facebook, and other platforms to ensure our by-laws, meeting minutes, activities, trail information, etc are readily available to our members and community.
    • Budget:  $25
    • Updates:
      • No updates.
  • Trail Committee:
    • Chair:  Kevin McNutt
    • Mission:  Work closely with our landowners to ensure our trails are safe and fun for all our members and visitors.  Document all trail work in SNARS.  Collect and save land use agreements and send to the county rep.
    • Budget:  $800
    • Updates:
      • One new land owner in Kevin’s area.  Land that changed ownership last year has now been sold again.  The sale closed last week.
      • One potential issue on Trail 30 being investigated.  May need to reroute.
  • Finance Committee:
    • Chair:  Frank Sommerfeldt
    • Mission:  Create and oversee a budget that will be sufficient to appreciate our landowners, maintain our trails, recognize our members, and contribute to our community.
    • Budget:  $300
    • Updates:
      • No updates.
