*Meeting called to order on 9/5/23, 7:31pm at the Osceola Fair Grounds by Spencer.
Secretary’s report:
- September and all past month meeting minutes are posted on webpage. Approved.
Treasurer’s report:
- No income or expenses for the past month. Approved.
- Will schedule a budget meeting next month for Board of Directors.
- Donation check had been sent to Sheri this summer, got it to Frank at the meeting.
Media/Marketing:
- New club meeting cards were printed and available to hand out at the fair.
- Mark Jessen is trying to coordinate a new logo and apparel. Anyone wanting to help, reach out to Mark.
Council Report:
- Chippewa Trail by Luck getting some work.
- Gandy Dancer Trail. A study will be done this year gathering input from nearby bar & restaurant owners.
- Cattail Trail. Possibility that a portion of it could get paved. More to come.
- Stower Seven Lakes Trail.
- Polk County Board of Supervisors voted to appeal the recent order that closed the trail to snowmobiles. Some rewording of the documentation might be all that is needed to overcome what the judge’s ruling indicated was the issue.
- There might be a county resolution drafted that would get voted on in the future if necessary. If the trail can’t be open to the previously approved uses, then it could get closed to all uses.
- Will be printing new trail maps this year. Any business advertisements to put in the maps are due by next week Thursday (9/14).
- Sign order was submitted.
Trail Bosses Report:
- Bridge by Horse Creek to get some attention this fall.
- Trail 30. Gathering signs, quite a few got turned in already. Will be planning a work day in the coming weeks to assemble all the new signs.
- New post pounders needed for the new trail sections and trail bosses. Motion, seconded, and approved for the club to purchase two post pounders. Frank will get them at Fleet Farm.
KAOS Youth Club:
- No meeting since April.
- Next meeting is next Tuesday, 9/12 at 7:00 at McKenzie Lanes in Centuria.
- Youth snowmobile safety class will be October 16, 17, & 19 (Mon, Tues, Thurs) at the Osceola Intermediate School. Class times are 6:00-9:00 each night. Register at the first class. The club will pay for the class registration fee ($10) for each student.
Old Business:
- Membership renewals are due. They expired June 30.
- Landowner memberships will be covered by the club. Make sure to get new landowner names to Frank.
New Business:
- Club meeting times. Motion to change meeting start times to 7:00 instead of current 7:30 start time. Discussion. Motion made by Doug, seconded by Nate. Approved. Starting for the next meeting in October, all meetings will begin at 7:00. Rachael will edit the cards that were printed to 7:00.
- Fair.
- Sign-up sheet still has some openings, especially on Sunday.
- Doug will figure out the groomer for the parade. Cindy has the candy.
- Food booth. Fridge seems to be working. Would be nice to have another pop cooler, but will go with what we have for this year.
- Electronic payment system will be available this year.
- Scott Tinney informed us the fair building got approved. Plan to build the new building where the current building is. Don’t have enough money to have water & sewer at this time, but it can be added later.
Trip Committee:
- Planning for same as past 2 years Round Lake, Hayward, WI area. January 18-21, 2024. Rooms are blocked. Frank will call to confirm how rooms should be reserved.
Social Committee:
- Planning for club party at Eric’s sometime this winter. More details to come.
